Community Leadership Summit 2011 Lightning TalksEdit

At each year at CLS we have a lightning talks session at 10am - 11am on the Sunday of the event. The goal of these talks is to be a really quick bite of great work that is going on - they are quick fire and they are no longer than five minutes long.

There are a few rules for the lightning talks:

the five minute limit is hard - if you go over your five minutes you will be gonged off. :-)
no slides for the lightning talks - getting computers hooked up often sucks up too much time - do feel free to use other visual props that don't require setting a computer up. :-)

Tiki Wiki CMS Groupware - Marc Laporte - An open source platform to support/organize your communities. Tiki is Software made the Wiki Way and offers hundreds of built-in features. (There will be a session on this topic later today).

Splitting off subgroups (aka How to keep everyone happy) - Martijn Verburg - Some communities span a very broad topic (e.g. The Java ecosystem) and grumblings can quickly occur when the community leadership doesn't cater for the varying interests. I'll cover how we solved the problem for the London Java Community.
OS-Independent PDA Tool - Vaitheeshwar Ramachandran - A solution for desktop-applications (based on lightweight virtualization) which allows a user to run her personalized software from a pendrive/flash disk on any compatible computer even though they do not exist on local disks of the host desktop computer.
